MTV Base rejects Radio and Weasel's Magnetic video

As a student, I would hate it when news papers kept writing about Chameleon; I thought they were his fans trying to push him down our throats. But when I joined the industry, I learnt that news papers only wrote about him because he was a news maker and thus reporting about him was inevitable.
As I type this, I can't help to feel that some readers are starting to think the same about the continuous stories of Radio and Weasel. Just last week we reported they were to perform at the Big brother premier eviction on Sunday, then they got nominated for those Nigerian awards and as I was trying to put the note book down they found their way into it again.
Word reaching our desk is that the Good lyfe crew is not all smiles after the video for their blockbuster hit Magnetic was rejected by MTV Base.
It’s said that the video has been on the shelves of the big station for about three months yet they've never played it, on seeing this happen the boys consulted with an insider who bluntly let the truth out.
Not to be out done, the boys made an emergency trip to South Africa a week prior to their Big Brother performance.
While there, the duo re-employed the services of Tough Sunday a south African production crew behind mega videos like P-Square's Beautiful Onyinye, Navio's One and Only, Kata, Young Zee's Criminal Swag, as well as the duo's Fantastic and Can't let you go.
Together they re-shot the Magnetic video and other new projects they chose to code name; the invisible project 2014.
The boys later joined the Channel O TV crew to talk African and Ugandan music at large, it’s at this time that they premiered their latest video Money also directed by Tough Sunday.
The Good lyfe crew has been on a high since this year started and across Africa, they are viewed as favorites to win this year's converted BET award where they are nominated along side musical forces such as 2Face and Ice Prince.

Radio and Weasel nominated for Nigerian awards

Like in football there comes a time when a certain footballer dominates the game; they score the important goals, win all trophies and get all the endorsements.
Christiano Ronaldo and this short guy Messi are a testament to this.
In Ugandan music, there was a time we had Chameleon, we literally worshiped everything he penned, I remember him being the first Ugandan act to grace a city billboard.
We can't say these two have reached his feet but at the rate Radio and Weasel are going, they are definitely sweeping everything their way.
They've enjoyed massive international airplay, recorded a duet with Kenyan songbird Amani, as I pen this, they are about to rock this year's first eviction show with a couple of performances.
If you thought they've out done them selves already, think again, they are not stopping, news reaching the Observer desk is that the electronic Good Lyfe crew of Radio and Weasel TV have been nominated in yet another international award show.
This time its the current home of African music Nigeria. Radio and Weasel have been nominated in the Nigerian entertainment awards in the best East African category.
Radio and Weasel have been nominated alongside Kenya's Camp Mulla, P-Unit, DRC's Fally Ipupa, K'Nan and homeboy Navio.
This adds on the string of achievements and acceptance the Good lyfe crew is enjoying at the moment.
The Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA) were established in New York in 2006 to serve the growing population of Africans in the North America. They are aimed at recognizing the contribution of African entertainers well as promote the image of Nigerian culture.
Nigerian stars like Ice Prince and Wiz Kid featured prominently on the nominees list.
In the past, the NAE academy has awarded Nigerian stars like; Banky W, 2face Idibia, MI and internationally renown Maybach Music rapper Wale.
Voting will be done on-line from June 28th while the award show will take place on September 1st in New York.

Exodus wins Kenyan music award

Ugandan music is truly going places; from the nomination of the Good Lyfe crew in the annual BET awards to Julianna Kanyomozi's Kora award win last year, our music may be at the peak of things.
On Saturday 1st, Kenya held the prestigious Groove awards show and as you could imagine, Uganda was well represented with a category that saw six gospel artistes from Uganda tussle it out.
The nominated artistes included, Coopy Bly, Exodus, Holy Keane Amooti, Jackie Senyonjo, Ruyonga and Wilson Bugembe in a fully Ugandan category.
The Groove awards are credited as East Africa's premier Gospel music awards showcase, they honor , promote and give recognition to the artistes, writers and industry players for their contribution towards the East African Gospel music industry.
This years edition was held in Nairobi at the Kenyatta International Conference Center KICC, the event attracted different dignitaries including President Uhuru Kenyatta who was one of the special guests.
The Ugandan category was later won by Exodus whose Igwe and Walking are still making headlines in Kenya. In a recent interview with the Kenyan standard, the dancehall preacher admitted to having a good karma with Kenya.
Last week, the artiste was in Kenya shooting the video for his new single move this mountain, he remains one of Uganda's most celebrated gospel artistes.

Bucha Man pleads to return to Fire Base

Ugandan entertainment is never short of drama, even when its slowing down some dude reduces a song, and to assure that it’s the talk of town, he will aptly call it Coccidiosis. However, this is not a song about Bebe Cool but his one time nemesis Bucha man.
News reaching our desk is that Mark Bugembe also known as Bucha Man, once a vice president in Bobi Wine's Fire Base Crew wants back into the Kamwokya camp.
We can exclusively establish that the dancehall singer courtesy of DJ Michael has been pleading with the self proclaimed Ghetto president to take him back.
By press time, nothing had been concluded since negotiations with Bobi Wine were only hitting a dead end.
“He's not willing to bring him back because the separation two years ago was messy”, says one insider.
Bobi Wine, Bucha Man, Bebe Cool and others like Master Parrot and Tool Man were the pioneers of Fire Base Crew in the early 2000s. Due to issues known to the artistes, they all left the crew leaving it for Bobi Wine and Bucha Man.
Bucha Man gained a lot of prominence from organizations advocating for persons with disabilities, he oftenly sang about his disability and general discrimination from the public.
For a number of years, Bucha Man was Bobi Wine's designated vice president. Under the crew, he released club bangers such as; Banakampala, Lwaki Temumatila and Mwagalaki.
As the Ghetto president's second in command, Bucha Man fought all his president's musical and at times physical wars against the likes of Bebe Cool and Chameleon.
However, in 2011, Bucha shocked Ugandans by revealing he was leaving Fire Base Crew; he cited exploitation by the leader.
He even recorded a song attacking his former boss, Kyagulasada, on top of his controversial move to appear alongside Bebe Cool at the Battle of Champions last year.
At the highly attended event, Bucha Man praised the man he once called dumb for having a good heart and caring for the needy. To poke Bobi Wine in the eye, Bebe did a live rendition of his Ntuyo zange for the lame singer.
At the moment, we can't tell whether Bobi Wine will have a change of heart, forget all Bucha said and have him back into the crew again. It will be fun seeing a concert being organized to honor their reunion.
