As circumstances surrounding Mavado and Chris Martin’s Kampala gig are still unclear, Ugandans may have to wail no more now, that they are assured of a Mr. Vegas street jam and Konshen’s return for even a bigger concert.
But even then, I find it hard to deliver such news considering the number of Ugandans still looking at their Mavado and Chris Martin’s ticket as trophies.
News reaching us from the land Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta calls “my own” (he owns most of it anyway) is that the self styled high priest of Dance hall music, David Constantine Brooks alias Mavado will be performing in Kenya.
The Jamaican is scheduled to perform in Kenya in September; he will be headlining a concert for the “make a change campaign”.
To continuously evoke hunger among Ugandans, the organizers are teaming him up with Reggae and dancehall princess Cecile. Cecile is the current girl friend and mother of Chris Martin’s two kids.
While Mavado and Chris Martin’s baby mama have been confirmed for the Kenyan do, in Uganda, they are still monking our city billboards with their end of year pending concert.
Recently Mavado became the first Caribbean artiste to exclusively premier a video on Billboard, which makes the Nairobi concert even a bigger deal.
Like Ugandans, Kenyans are not upbeat about Mavado’s concert considering that he snubbed his Kenyan gig last January citing “Visa issues”……. Just like he did to us in December. They have their hands crossed praying he doesn’t have “visa issues” on his would be third visit to an East African country.
This will be Cecile’s second concert in Kenya having performed successfully in 2011 alongside her sweetness, Chris Martin. She also recorded a collabo with former East African Bashment Crew member Wyre, a remix to his hit she say that.
The make a change campaign raises awareness on education health care and youth economic development across Africa.
